Page Galleries is proud to present CONTINUITIES: Stringer’s Stringers, a focused exhibition of bronzes by Auckland sculptor Terry Stringer, curated by Mark Hutchins-Pond. Drawn from the artist’s own collection, the works have been archived by Stringer for reference since the 1980s and offer an intimate view of the recurring forms, figures and ideas that have shaped five decades of his practice.
Timed to coincide with Stringer’s eightieth year, CONTINUITIES places Page Galleries amongst a season of celebration for one of New Zealand’s most distinctive sculptural voices. The exhibition highlights the artist’s long engagement with bronze, scale, memory and perception, bringing together works that reveal how themes return and shift across his career.
Continuities invites close attention to Stringer’s characteristic bronze figure works and their layered visual language. Through elaborately ritualistic means, his sculptures suggest hidden narratives and shifting perspectives, rewarding sustained looking from every angle.
